Wednesday 12th August -

WEDNESDAY

Up at usual 10.30AM. Body clock not yet adjusted to 2 hour time difference.
Tried again to find elusive tourist office. Ended up on tour of Opera House (v. interesting). Later found out Opera House was built on top of a river (more interesting).

Found smashing flea market at back and to right of Opera House - got some lovely opera glasses (1930s) for £15. Very pleased.

Eventually found tourist office just round corner from our apartment.

Went to famous Cafe Dukat for famous hot chocolate drink. Melted chocolate in a cup. Could eat six!

After rest in apartment (and more rain), went to equally famous “Amadeus” restaurant two roads from apartment. Meal excellent. Wine delicious. Service very good, only disappointment being over charged by £10 for wine. Noticed at last minute and pointed it out. Surly waitress quickly gave us revised bill with no word of apology. On reflection, I think this was a deliberate ploy - the waitress was FAR too quick to come back with a revised bill (seconds).

TIP 4: check your bills carefully.
